چکیده

Breadfruit marketing is limited by its rapid ripening and deterioration after harvest; therefore, improved postharvest practices may facilitate breadfruit marketing. This study examined the effect of harvest maturity 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) on quality ‘Ma’afala’ ( Artocarpus altilis ). was harvested at 13, 15, 17 weeks flowering, half each treated with 1 μL⋅L −1 1-MCP for 20 hours. During storage, weight fruit, hand feeling, skin color, respiration rate, ethylene production rate were evaluated every other day until fruit deteriorated. Compared untreated treatment delayed climacteric respiratory peak 6 days (65% delay), complete softening 7 (63% increased uniformity in number to softening. Skin discoloration during earliest period 5 (108% delay). Picking early be useful preventing discoloration,

Postharvest quality and chilling injury of plums: benefits of 1-methylcyclopropene

The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) treatment on the development of chilling injury (CI) symptoms in four plum cultivars and to determine the relationship between the climacteric behavior of the cultivar and its sensitivity to this disorder. Significant differences in ripening pattern were found between the cultivars after long-term storage. Among the...

Responses of early, mid and late season apple cultivars to postharvest application of 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) under air and controlled atmosphere storage conditions

The potential for commercial application of 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) to maintain quality of ‘McIntosh’, ‘Empire’, ‘Delicious’ and ‘Law Rome’ apples under air and controlled atmosphere (CA) storage conditions was investigated. These cultivars represent early, mid and late season apples with ripening rates ranging from fast to slow. 1-MCP gas concentrations used were 0.5, 1 and 2 ml l, genera...

The Role of 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) in Improving the Postharvest Quality of Some Cut Rose Cultivars

In order to improve the postharvest quality and the export ability of cut rose (Rosa hybrida L.) cvs. Happy Hour and Bordeaux, the effect of 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) as an ethylene inhibitor, was investigated. 1-MCP was used at 0.3, 0.4, 0.5 and 0.6 g m-3 for 18 h at 8 °C to simulate the transport of flowers. 1-MCP treatment significantly prolonged the vase life and minimized the weight los...
